Relative Adoptions! When a parent has asked a relative to assume the responsibilities of parenting their child/children adoption may be considered.  These adoptions often formalize a family arrangement that already exists for the child. What to expect in a relative adoption: An adoption home study must be completed by a licensed agency. This includes a thorough background investigation. In court the parental rights of both biological parents will be terminated. An adoption hearing will take place after the termination of parental rights.
